Cath & Blaine’s Wedding on the Found Farm in Iowa City, Iowa

Wow. There aren’t words to express what a special weekend it was for Catharine & Blaine’s wedding on July 7th, 2018. We were contacted by the happy couple to help pull together all the details for the ceremony & reception about 6 months prior to their big day. We met many times to make sure the timeline was in order + the rentals were just right. Throughout the planning process, Cath & Blaine kept saying that parts of the wedding were in the hands of friends & family. But when we arrived a few days before the wedding day, we couldn’t believe the number of people who were getting the grounds ready for the weekend events. There had to have been 30-40 there working on landscaping, cooking, painting, hanging decor, moving furniture, and more. It didn’t stop there though.

As the days went on, more people showed up to shower this couple in their love whether it would be borrowed quilts for the ceremony seating or making homemade desserts for the wedding reception. Every time we stopped by the farm, more decorations popped up and more people kept stopping by to help. The term “amazing” doesn’t really describe what a sight it was to see.

So back to our big plans. We had a ton of fun sorting out the puzzle that was this wedding. With multiple food vendors, multiple florists &  decorators, a major amount of rentals; all plus the idea that the big day is outside (even if it rains) — we were triple checking everything to make sure it would go smoothly.

And it did! The wedding day was perfect. The bride was gorgeous in her mother’s wedding dress; the groom looking handsome in a suit, and the family was so loving of the happy couple’s nuptials. It is hard to come up with anything that we wished had gone differently. It was truly an incredibly special weekend. Some of our favorite memories will be:

  • Taking the Soirée vision of a ceremony in the round with haybales, chairs, and quilts from a little drawing on a scrap piece of paper — to real life.
  • The SEVEN food & drink vendors and how smoothly load-in/out and service went.
  • The bride & her dad’s surprise mash-up dance during the “Father-Daughter Dance.”
  • Organizing a water balloon fight during the reception. It was a must-have per the bride & groom.
  • Ending the night saying goodnight to Cath & Blaine as they swam in the pool in their wedding outfits.

Congratulations Cath & Blaine! We LOVED working with you and wish you all the best in Ames!
